“At this Opening Ceremony, esteemed speakers from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), Agriculture, Health, and the Historical Society will offer short greetings and share compelling stories, shedding light on the critical role water plays in our environment, health, spirituality, and cultural heritage.
We are honored to have Osman Ali, the founder of the Somali Museum, open the Ceremony with a Welcome speech. His words will resonate with the shared experiences of the Somali Minnesotan community and the vital importance of water in their lives.
In addition to the enlightening speeches, you will have the opportunity to engage with the Water Bar experience—an interactive exhibit that invites reflection on the intricacies of water. This immersive encounter will foster meaningful conversations and deepen your appreciation for this precious resource.
Adding to the cultural richness of the event, the Buffalo Weavers will deliver a captivating performance. Through their music, they will weave together the themes of water, community, and resilience, creating a powerful and memorable experience.
Join us as we explore the profound significance of water in the Somali Minnesotan community, highlighting the challenges of water scarcity and the resilience of the human spirit. Your presence and support are instrumental in making this event truly impactful.
