Experiential Learning in the Digital Age: Creating Practicum Opportunities during COVID19*

Have you ever wondered what experiential learning opportunities would look ifcoursework was all moved to online learning? This session will provide ideas on creating sucheducational experiences. In addition, two examples of experiential learning will be provided.One example will be from Katie Clark as she created ‘online practicum’ for students in theDepartment of Nursing and in the Honors Program during COVID19. This ‘online practicum’included recording in real time photos, videos, and interviews with people who were working inwith individuals experiencing homelessness (or the individuals themselves) sharing howCOVID19 was influencing people’s lives and work. Also, Christy Mattingly will share herexperiences using the 360 camera (or a virtual reality format) during immersions in Columbiaand Minneapolis with students.Facilitators: Katie Clark and Christy Mattingly
