This second installment of her Growing Pains series includes a video installation and paintings centered around the color red (anger and wisdom) that encourage an open dialogue about hurt and healing\, offering space to express emotions and begin breaking the cycle of pain. \n \nMOHAMED HERSI \nTides of Tribulations: A Journey Through Solace | Christensen Gallery \nThrough a series of large scale paintings\, Hersi explores emotional states of being that shape both the present moments and fleeting memories of our human experience. From joy and hope to confusion and grief\, Hersi uses portraiture\, landscape\, and abstraction to reflect on what we currently hold and embrace\, and what we will perhaps always be sifting through. A moment can hold much emotion\, and emotions are what move us.

We will have various events throughout the week to support first generation college students at Augburg and build community for everyone. The events are the following: \n\n\nMonday\, Nov. 4th: First-Generation Week Kick-Off\n9:00 am – 3:00 pm Christensen Center\nGames\, photo booth with Auggie Eagle\, games\, activities\, and more! \n10:40 am – 11:00 am\, Hoversten Chapel\nGuest Speaker: Morgan Knutson\, Strommen Center\nFellow staff and first gen Morgan Knutson shares her story. \nWednesday\, Nov. 6th: Strommen Center and TRIO/SSS Present: The Hidden Curriculum of Networking\n2:00 pm – 3:30 pm\, Augsburg Room\nStrommen Center presents on networking followed by a panel discussion from first gen professionals/graduate students. Refreshments provided! \nThursday\, Nov. 7th: Share Your First-Generation Story\n5:30 pm – 7:00 pm\, SCI 123\nVoicing first gen experiences of students around campus and building community\, including a first gen panel.
