This second installment of her Growing Pains series includes a video installation and paintings centered around the color red (anger and wisdom) that encourage an open dialogue about hurt and healing\, offering space to express emotions and begin breaking the cycle of pain. \n \nMOHAMED HERSI \nTides of Tribulations: A Journey Through Solace | Christensen Gallery \nThrough a series of large scale paintings\, Hersi explores emotional states of being that shape both the present moments and fleeting memories of our human experience. From joy and hope to confusion and grief\, Hersi uses portraiture\, landscape\, and abstraction to reflect on what we currently hold and embrace\, and what we will perhaps always be sifting through. Schaalman Professor in Jewish Studies and Senior Faculty Fellow of the Interreligious Institute at Chicago Theological Seminary. \nProfessors Mikva and Syeed will share stories about their teaching experiences across religious\, ideological\, and world view differences. Both have worked in diverse classroom settings and with a wide range of students. They will explore pedagogies that co-create spaces of exploration and engagement in high conflict contexts.
