SUMMARY:POSTPONED – Visiting Artist: Fíora Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Come hear the quartet bring two worlds of music to life! Mendelssohn’s lush\, expressive quartet meets Keel Road\, a lively collection of pieces inspired by folk tunes and storytelling. It’s a mix of elegance\, energy\, and emotion—perfect for anyone who loves discovering new sounds. \nRepertoire includes Quartet No. 2 Op. 13 in A minor by Felix Mendelssohn (1809–1847) and Keel Road\, a collection of folk music from the Danish String Quartet. \nGet Tickets: Students receive free admission. Contact borden@augsburg.edu for the passcode to reserve seats in advance or check in at the door. \nEnsemble Bio:In this dynamic era\, it is imperative for artists to create novel expressions that capture the essence of music. Collaborating with diverse perspectives and unique gifts\, they contribute to the continuing evolution of the craft\, echoing John Keats’ timeless words: “Beauty is truth\, truth beauty.” \nIt is upon this pillar that the Fíora Ensemble formed\, striving to bring tangible beauty to audiences throughout the Twin Cities. Taken from the Irish-Gaelie word Fior\, meaning real\, true or genuine\, the ensemble aspires to provide meaningful\, expressive\, and moving experiences for all audiences. \nFormed in 2024 by original members Anne Ainomaë\, Heidi Amundson\, Jane Cords-O’Hara\, and Elise Meichels Parker\, the group seeks to be a collaborative haven for additional local artists. The four principal players have a wealth of experience from all genres and styles of music ranging from classical chamber music to Broadway musicals\, and have worked with local\, national\, and international ensembles. They have performed at such noted venues as Orchestra Hall\, Ordway Center for the Performing Arts\, the Guthrie\, Northrop Auditorium\, and Carnegie Hall. \nhttps://www.fioraensemble.com/
