This survey measures students’ perception of Academic Challenge\, Student-Faculty Interactions\, Quality of Interactions\, and experience with High Impact Practices. Meanwhile\, faculty provided their perception of students’ course experiences on the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE). The combined NSSE-FSSE results offer a unique opportunity to directly compare student and faculty perspectives on a wide range of academic issues. Whether you teach in upper or lower-division courses – and regardless of your academic discipline – these data offer something for everyone.

DESCRIPTION:Paideia Workshop RSVP \nJoin CTL Director Rachel Lloyd for this participatory demonstration lesson and introduction to the Paideia (pie DAY a) approach to designing and facilitating text-based discussions. In today’s challenging political climate\, the skills of civil\, civic-minded\, and evidence-based democratic deliberation are a necessity.  Paideia is a pedagogy that encourages student-centered\, democratic discussions around a common text. It can be used with all ages and in all subject areas to foster a more inclusive learning environment.   Participants are asked to read the linked short story “Too Many Rules” by Anishinabeg-Ojibweauthor\,Anne Dunn\,  prior to the workshop\, and come ready to discuss the text using this focusing short reading guide.

DESCRIPTION:RSVP   Please RSVP for accurate lunch count.   \nAssessment Workshop Digital Handout:  Please bring a laptop or tablet as you are able to be able to access data sets for this session.  We will have some hard copies available as well.  \nPlease join the Directors of the Center for Teaching and Learning\, First Year Experience\, and Assessment for discussions on Tuesday\, February 27th from 11am – 1pm in the Marshall Room\, Christensen Center. No classes are in session at this time\, so we hope you can join us for a lively lunchtime discussion. \nFirst we’ll explore a selection of data related to student retention\, including AugSem performance indicators and responses to institutional surveys\, to foster a discussion on solutions to support student academic progress. \nAfter lunch\, we will discuss the university’s use of data and analytics to inform decisions. We will discuss recent efforts to advance our assessment practice\, data governance\, data access\, and analytical support\, as we approach our upcoming HLC accreditation review.
